Charles Russell Apologetics
by Vanderhoven7 injust ran across a russell apologetic site that i think people will find interesting as well as informative.. ron day writes:.
charles taze russell never “expected” christ to return in 1874. before 1876, russell had rejected the date setting of the second adventists.
in 1876, he accepted barbour’s conclusion that christ had returned in 1874. yes, he died in 1916, still holding to the belief that christ had returned in 1874.. until 1904, russell accepted barbour’s belief that armageddon (the time of trouble) had begun in 1874, and that it was to end in 1914. he rejected this in 1904, about ten years before 1914. in 1904, he came to understand that the time of trouble begins after the ending of the times of the gentiles.. russell, however, never believed in the kind of armageddon that is preached by the jehovah’s witnesses.

Russell, however, never believed in the kind of Armageddon that is preached by the Jehovah’s Witnesses. He did not believe in the idea that Armageddon was to eternally destroy millions of unregenerated men, women and children.
I always suspected this. Thanks for posting... very interesting.
God allows the reign of the anti-christ because this comes to be what people want. Each crisis follows a certain pattern:
Crisis>Fear>Chaos>Increased Control>Voluntarily Giving up Freedom>Compliance>Calm>Repeat
We have already been through several of these.... looks like Climate Change may be the final one. Could also be global financial collapse...We'll see.
Regardless, this cycle will repeat until the Anti-Christ gains global ascendancy.
God stops the insanity after the Anti-Christ kills around 2/3 of the worlds population and then mounts a suicide attack on the tiny nation of Israel at the Battle of Armageddon.
Jesus is the good guy in this scenario as he stops the rampage before there is nothing left. "Unless those days were cut short, no flesh would be saved".But the (Rutherford/Franz) WT paints God as the one running around killing people like cock-roaches as personal punishment for not submitting to the Pharisaical dictates of the Wt.
In reality, Satan hates mankind and would like to exterminate us all as he goes down in flames.

Braindead die-hards will see this as a fulfillment of prophecy.
Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD: - Amos 8 : 11

The Gospel Message By Age

24: 14 "kingdom message" schtick.
of the 30+ times "gospel of ____ " is listed in the nt, only 4 times is it "gospel of the kingdom".

That moment when you realize you wasted 40 years of your life telling people about the Paradise Earth when 2/3 of Evangelicals already believe in a Paradise Earth, but they just call it by another name: The Millennium Reign.

Did the ransom sacrifice even work?
by Sharpie inshower thought entered my mind the other day... jesus christ.
as per doctrine.
is still alive in heaven right now correct?

@ VH - Yes use whatever you wish.
The ransom payment was paid for all so mankind would have a right to a resurrection. Christ died for all. But it seems that the benefits of the ransom sacrifice don't apply to the other sheep right now.
Do you believe in Universal Salvation? Just curious. Is it All? Or, whosoever?
Mat_10:32 Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.
Mat_10:33 But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.
Mat_16:25 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.
Joh_3:15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
Joh_3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Joh 4:14 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.
The payment is offered, but it must be received in order for righteousness to be imputed. It is the state of "righteousness' that gives us the inheritance of life as an heir in the family of God.
Some people simply do not want Jesus to be King, plain and simple. Luke 19: 14 (Yes, 1914 )
“But his citizens hated him, and sent a message after him, saying, We will not have this man to reign over us.”
Should not God give people who request freedom from himself their wish?

Rivergang, looks like some one changed that quote or got their facts upside down. Thanks for pointing that out.
Here's a NASA link that says Artic ice reached a maximum record just 8 years ago. Looks like a lot of flux.

@VH,
One of the main complaints about God is that he allows sin. Many erroneously conclude that there must not be a God, or at least one who cares. It is more accurate to say that God allows (even created) "Free Will".
The existence of sin or evil proves that free will is very real. But what to do about the consequences of sin?
1. Ignore it?
2. Punish it ?
3. Prevent it?
To ignore sin is to enable sin. God is not an enabler.
To prevent sin is to prevent Free Will. God loves freedom. "Where the spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom."
To punish sin is to promote containment of evil, and yet preserve/protect/promote freedom for the innocent.
Enter - Grace. Grace restores relationship through the instrumentality of substitution. It is the kryptonite for sin. Real relationships are two-way enterprises. In Grace, there is the one extending it and the one receiving it. Where sin breaks relationship, grace restores it.
If someone doesn't want Gods grace and vicarious payment of their sin, then they must pay for their sins themselves. It is simple to understand.Regarding the question on who the payment of sin is paid to, I think that all we have to do is look to our own courts. Prosecutors are said to represent "the people". Sentences are paid to the penal institution or the State, and not to the prosecutor himself.
Likewise, the payment for sin is paid to the community of created agents capable of morality. That's the way I see it.So are you saying that JWs believe the ransom does nothing for them and only for Adam?
They give a little lip service to the ransom sacrifice, but they ultimately believe that they will atone for their own sin when they die. So, the idea that Jesus is some sort of scapegoat for them personally isn't even on their radar. With WT lies, they are inoculated against seeing the need to receive Christ as their "kinsman redeemer", a man like us.

So, it really irks me that the WT is able to snow people so easily with their MT. 24: 14 "kingdom message" schtick. Of the 30+ times "Gospel of ____ " is listed in the NT, only 4 times is it "gospel of the kingdom". All the other times it's "gospel of Jesus", "gospel of your salvation", "gospel of grace"...etc.
The Christian ministry is about reconciliation with God, not the kingdom.
17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;
19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. - 2 Cor. 5The gospel (good news) will change into "the kingdom message" after the church age has ended. But it is still going on and hasn't ended in 1914 like the WT has been saying for over a hundred years.
I believe the kingdom message will be preached by literal male Jewish virgins, (144,000 of them) during the Great Tribulation after the church has been raptured.
This is also the view of about 2/3 of evangelicals. It explains why so many Christians never heard about this kingdom gospel when we went to their doors. They were used to hearing about the ministry of reconciliation and the gospel of grace, the good news of Jesus... which is the appropriate Christian message for the time period we are living in.Not only do JW's not preach the message of reconciliation that Jesus gave us, they claim that their redirection to the gospel of the kingdom is actually the voice of God. Wow! That just screams cult.

Happy 4th !
We hold these truths to be self-evident that all men are created equal.
May we never forget just how radical these words were in 1776.
